Abstract

This article analyzes the development of mountain tourism in rural settlements of the Navoi region of Uzbekistan. The study examines the theoretical foundations of mountain and rural tourism, current development trends, and practical approaches to promoting sustainable tourism in mountainous areas. Special attention is given to key tourist destinations such as the Sarmishsay Gorge, the Nurota Mountains, and Sentob village, which represent a combination of natural, cultural, and historical attractions. Based on statistical data, policy documents, and field-based observations, the research highlights the growing role of mountain tourism in regional economic development, employment generation, and preservation of cultural heritage. The findings demonstrate that improving tourism infrastructure, expanding service quality, and supporting local entrepreneurship can significantly enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of mountain tourism in the Navoi region.
